Same prompt. Every tool. Real outputs.
Stack Runoff throws the same prompts at competing AI tools every month and publishes everything: all the sprites, all the sounds, what each usable asset actually cost, and whether you're allowed to ship it.
A small knight hero with a blue cape and a round shield, idle pose, 32x32, 16-bit pixel art, transparent background.

Why this exists
Feature lists lie by omission
Every tool says "game-ready". We drop the output into an actual game scene and time the fixes.
Prices move monthly
Credits, tiers and promos change constantly. We log the price on test day and flag changes the day we spot them.
Licences are a trap
Some free tiers are "personal use only". Every result shows whether you can actually ship it.
Season 1 lineup
Month 1 is all about indie game assets. App builders join the arena later.
2D sprites
Knight idle and walk cycle, tilesets, item icons, a slime, a dragon boss, UI, a coin spin, parallax. 10 prompts × 3 runs.
PixelLab · Retro Diffusion · Scenario (free tier)
Game audio
Menu loop, boss theme, victory jingle, jump/coin/hit SFX, night-forest ambience, three voice lines. 10 prompts × 3 runs.
ElevenLabs · Suno (music prompts)
AI app builders
Small indie-sized apps (a jam page, a Discord bot, a devlog site) ranked by cost per working result.

House rules
- Same prompt, word for word. Public prompt set, versioned. No secret tuning for the tool we like.
- Three runs, all published. Luck is part of the result, so you see the bad rolls too.
- We pay for our own plans. No comped accounts unless it says so on the page.
- Rankings aren't for sale. Sponsors get a labelled slot, never a better score. Read the policy.
